Most people when they start dog crate training their new puppy deal with the same thing, a puppy who barks all night. The trick to dealing with this problem is fixing it before it becomes a habit.

Now that you have adoptive your new dog, you must become its new parent. You must guide your puppy and convey what is tolerable and what is not. The easiest way to alleviate barking is through exercise. If you take your puppy on a long walk or play with them before bed then they will be more likely to fall asleep right away.

Here are some other ideas for dealing with a noisy dog:

  • Cover the dog crate with a towel or blanket, making the crate a darker quieter environment, or try Casual Crateware, a stylish way to cover your dog crate.
  • Give your dog a bone or chew toy when it’s inside the dog cage giving them something to do and relieve potential boredom.
  • Train your dog to think of its dog cage as its home or den, they are naturally den animals so by giving them a treat when going into their dog crate will become a positive activity.
  • When your gone leave the radio or TV running so your dog thinks there’s somebody home which may alleviate some of the anxiety of being alone.

Overall the exercise is going to be your best bet, a tired puppy is going to be the easiest to put to bed in a dog crate. And, as an added bonus, extra exercise isn’t going to hurt you either.
